Why won't my ipod sync to my computer?

Whenever I turn on my computer, I get a pop-up that says "applesyncnotifier.exe-unable to locate component: corefoundation.dll was not found." It recommends to take out iTunes and then re-install it. Is there anyway I can fix it without having to do that? Will taking out iTunes erase all my music? PLEASE help
