McSvHost.exe cripples my pc?

My computer has been very unresponsive and slow lately as in it will take 30 seconds to a minute just to go to google.com if I type it in, or just with any website. It will max my CPU since it's taking anywhere between 50-70 according to task manager. I was wondering if I should just uninstall McAfee or end the process since It's really frustrating. I have a Windows XP SP3
